National security is about defence – something I strongly support – but it is also about the economy, health, energy, food and biosecurity. Having been involved as a vet in the frontline of the devastating 2001 Foot and Mouth Outbreak, I know first-hand how critical protecting our nation’s biosecurity is – not just for animal and plant health but our vital agri-food industry, environment and human public health.
