- At the end of April local councils, in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and others launched the Eden Youth Hub in Penrith
- It aims to support Eden’s 16-24 year olds helping with their future employment prospects
The Youth hub officially launched on 29th April, at a virtual event which Dr Hudson attended and spoke at. The Youth-focused employment facility in Penrith is a partnership of organisations including Cumbria County Council, Eden District Council, schools and colleges, the community sector, DWP and Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.
The hub will provide a holistic employment service and serve as the main contact for 16-24 year-olds giving them employment advice and career support.
The practical support available will include access to IT equipment, printing, help with making CVs, making job enquiries, interview preparation and much more.
Speaking about the the new Youth Hub Dr Hudson said:
“It is exciting to see what is planned for the new Youth Hub in Penrith and great to see it coming to fruition. A huge thanks to all the partners and stakeholders who made this project a reality. When a young person is 16-24 it is a vital stage of their development, so the Youth Hub can play a vital role in getting young folk on the job ladder and kick-starting their careers.
The launch was virtual which confirms the importance of having a virtual stream to this project going forward, which is so important in our dispersed rural setting.”
