As of Monday 25th January over 5.7 million people have received their first coronavirus vaccine in England and over 6.5 million in the UK as a whole. The Government looks on track to reach its target of reaching the four following priority groups by mid-February:
- all residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
- all those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers
- all those 75 years of age and over
- all those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
Commenting Dr Neil Hudson said:
“The vaccine will be in the arms of the most vulnerable in our community by the middle of February and the NHS are administering jabs to around half a million people nationwide every day. This has only been possible due to the titanic efforts of our NHS workers who have been doing a fantastic job in rolling out the vaccine. I personally thank all of those who have been involved in the vaccine delivery across Penrith and The Border and the wider region.
The task is enormous, but progress is being made quickly. The end really is in sight. We just all need to keep following the public health guidelines and we can get through this very challenging time.
