Dr Neil Hudson MP celebrated his constituency’s entrepreneurial spirit while visiting one of Penrith’s newest ventures - Woggle Goggle Swimming Pool and Activity Centre.
The new facility was opened in Spring by Jacqueline and Ben Levene as a base for their established swimming school business. On top of teaching Eden’s youngsters to swim, the site will be used for fitness sessions and water games. With versatile activity rooms and connecting to Thacka Beck Nature Reserve, they hope to bring schools for extended and varied learning sessions.
Dr Hudson welcomed the government grant from the Rural Payments Agency which helped make the installation possible. Investing in rural areas is crucial to making sure the Government’s levelling up agenda works for all communities.
Dr Neil Hudson MP said:
“Congratulations must go to Jacqueline and Ben who have worked tirelessly for years to build such a tremendous facility for the people of Eden. They have created a fantastic community hub for our area.
“The potential benefits are huge. Not just with our young folk learning a crucial life skill but also the wellbeing and mental health boost that this kind of exercise brings and the economic uplift for the area.
“Helped by a government grant, it was brilliant to see government funding helping do such good in our community. I work closely with the Rural Payments Agency and they are crucial in delivering the Government’s levelling up agenda for our countryside towns and villages.”
