On 4th July, Dr Neil Hudson chaired the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee session exploring a host of pet welfare issues that have arisen since the pandemic.
Leading the session, Dr Hudson heard distressing evidence of increased demand for mutilated animals; animals being brutally imported in such poor conditions that some had to be put down upon arrival in the UK; horses being illegally exported for slaughter; and animal charities becoming overwhelmed by the sheer number of abandoned animals.
The critically important session for the UK's animal population gained national media attention with Dr Hudson appearing on ITV News, Talk TV and BBC Radio.
His opening remarks on the worrying puppy yoga trend were widely reported following an undercover journalist exposing the cruel practices which can see underage, unvaccinated puppies exposed to stressful conditions without water or a place to rest.
