MP for Penrith and The Border, Dr Neil Hudson, visited Armathwaite Community School where pupils learned about our democracy and put questions to their representative.
After being given a tour of the school and meeting staff, Dr Hudson was then quizzed by a group of older pupils.
Dr Hudson was impressed by the range of issues the children were passionate about, being asked about everything from how we can better protect the environment to Dr Hudson’s professional background and the role of an MP.
Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border, said:
“It is always a pleasure to visit the many excellent schools in Penrith and The Border, and this visit was no different. The youngsters put some really thoughtful questions to me about the many pressing issues affecting society.
“A testament to their caring school, families and wider community; I was thoroughly impressed by the young folk and have every faith these children will blossom into knowledgeable and thoughtful citizens.”
