Dedicated to providing joined-up support to constituents with all levels of government, Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Epping Forest, met with senior Essex County Councillors and officers in Parliament to discuss education, transport, social care, and much more.
Dr Hudson highlighted some of his key priorities for Epping Forest residents in the upcoming Parliament which include new hospital building projects, protecting our precious green belt and making sure local young folk receive a world-class education.
Dr Hudson also drilled down into the issue of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) within our schools. The lightweight material is less durable than conventional concrete and could pose a risk to buildings' structural integrity. Dovetailing with the work being undertaken by Essex County Council at a local level, Dr Hudson has written to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves and the Department for Education's East of England Regional Director demanding that the previous Conservative Government's robust plans in Essex- which included local school rebuilding infrastructure projects - are implemented in full.
Dr Hudson also thanked the Council for their swift support in responding to his call to action on behalf of his many constituents that reached out concerning the condition of Galley Hill Road. Council officers were quick to patch surface damage with substantive long-term works now in the pipeline.
Other discussions revolved around school transport and the need for a more nuanced approach that current arbitrary catchment areas; local SEN provision; adult social care; and broader highway maintenance responses.
Dr Neil Hudson MP said:
"My thanks go out to Essex County Council Cabinet Members who work tirelessly to provide high-quality services for folk in Epping Forest and right across Essex.
"We had a really productive dialogue that I look forward to continuing in order to provide joined-up working at all levels of government."
