Dr Neil Hudson MP signed an open letter from more than 300 UK parliamentarians to Israel’s President condemning Hamas’ terrorist attacks and showing their support for Israel and its citizens.
In recent days Hamas launched a surprise co-ordinated assault across Israel killing hundreds of civilians at a time when many will have been celebrating Shabbat and the Jewish festivals of Sukkot and Simchat Torah.
As such, the All-Party Britain-Israel Parliamentary Group reasserted its condemnation of Hamas and restated Israel’s right to self-defence. This was signed by more than 300 cross-party UK parliamentarians.
The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has spoken to his Israeli counterpart to offer our allies any support they need and publicly condemned Hamas’ actions. The UK Government is in contact with Israeli authorities and British nationals in Israel should monitor travel advice.
Dr Neil Hudson MP said:
“The world has watched over the last 48 hours the appalling terrorist bloodshed perpetrated by Hamas against peaceful civilians going about their lives in Israel and we are appalled.
"I have joined with over 300 cross party Parliamentarians in showing our solidarity for Israel at this time, affirming Israel’s right to self-defence and condemning the terrorist actions of Hamas. I hope our intervention has further solidified the bond between Israel and the United Kingdom. Although these events are a major setback to the peace process, the UK and the international community will continue to strive for peace and shared prosperity across the region.”
