With classes returning for another academic year, Dr Neil Hudson MP visited Warcop Church of England Primary School to discuss his role as an MP, how our democracy works and field questions on the pressing issues for Warcop youngsters.
Staff and students gave Dr Hudson a tour of the school before sitting down for a question-and-answer session focussing on issues such as how parliament works, how laws are voted on, animal welfare, and the increasingly worrying issue of dangerous dogs.
Pupils have a scheduled trip to Parliament in the Autumn where they can delve deeper into our democratic system and their role within it as citizens.
Dr Neil Hudson MP said:
“I thoroughly enjoy hearing from our young folk about the issues that matter to them. The intelligent and engaged level of debate from children so young always amazes me and this visit was no different.
“Warcop is a thoroughly impressive school with youngsters benefitting from the likes of forest schools, exciting new sports and a host of extra-curricular clubs and trips. Our young folk are in safe hands, and I wish everyone well with the school year!”
