It was my veterinary experiences in the frontline during that crisis that spurred me into wanting to go into politics and public life. I spoke about Foot and Mouth in my maiden speech this time last year and this week I have spoken about Foot and Mouth in media articles about this disease that devastated so many farms and livelihoods and claimed so many animal lives."
